Tapestries and Rugs
| Lizard Hiss Artist Studio offers many kinds of art direct from the artist, Judy Hilbish. Judy has been doing photography for over 40 years, weaving for just as long and has been painting for 6 years. The weavings have been shown in local galleries for 15 years which have been joined lately by the painting and photography. The response to the art work has been overwhelming. Now Lizard Hiss Artist Studio would like to offer the same varied and high quality work directly to you. All images are copyrighted to the artist, Judy F. Hilbish.     Many people have asked how Lizard Hiss got it name. Many years ago when the artist and her husband, Karl, moved into the desert they needed a fence around their 3 acres to control the flow of critters: coyotes out and cats in, every thing else was free to move around. The jack rabbits and the cotton tails seemed appreciative of the protected areas but the lizards protested. When Karl was out in the heat of the summer pounding in the fence posts the lizards would climb the nearest and highest rocks and hiss at him. After all these years the little blue belly lizards have accepted the humans and have invited their buddies the leopard lizards to join them. The name is to honor them. The colorful sunrises and sunsets, the wild flowers and the lichen covered rocks are an inspiration for the art work created at Lizard Hiss Artist Studio. It takes many mediums to express all the aspects of this wonderful place. Please sit back and explore these web pages. You will find many aspects of the West represented through textiles, paintings, and photographs inspired by the history and geography of the West. Judy Hilbish |
